Business Hotels in Punjab, Ranked for Actual Working Trips
Business hotel meeting room with projector and glass walls in Punjab
Ten hotels judged on the things that matter when you are billing a client — Wi-Fi speeds, meeting-room quality, airport times and how the coffee is at 07:00.
What business travel to Punjab actually looks like
The typical business trip to Punjab is one of three shapes: a Ludhiana textile or bicycle-manufacturing visit, a Mohali IT or pharma engagement, or an Amritsar cross-border logistics meeting near the Attari-Wagah trade route. Chandigarh handles the government-adjacent work. Each city has different hotel needs — Ludhiana requires proximity to Focal Point or Dhandari Kalan, Mohali needs closeness to IT Park and the airport, Amritsar business travellers are usually near Ranjit Avenue or the Circular Road. Booking a wrong-city-quadrant hotel adds 40 minutes each way to a two-day trip.
I have made about 30 business trips across Punjab in the last two years for the same client base — consulting, textile audits, and one legal engagement. This ranking is based on measured hotel Wi-Fi (I run a Speedtest at 07:00, 14:00 and 21:00 on every stay), how the meeting rooms actually work when you need to run a projector and a hybrid call, whether room service breakfast arrives by the time you promised the client, and how usable the gym is when you land at 22:00 and want a treadmill at 06:15.
Radisson Blu Mohali — the airport-plus-work default
In Sector 65, Radisson Blu Mohali is 20 minutes from Chandigarh airport and 15 minutes from the Mohali IT Park. Wi-Fi runs 80-120 Mbps consistently, which is the highest I have measured at any Punjab hotel in this bracket. Rooms are ₹7,500-10,000 and the executive-floor lounge, at ₹1,500 extra, includes evening cocktails and a genuinely good breakfast that is faster than room service. The three meeting rooms on the first floor have working HDMI, Cisco phone, and reliable AC that does not shut off during a two-hour session.
The catch is the neighbourhood — after 20:00 there is nothing in walking distance and the hotel restaurant is expensive and slow. Order in from Swiggy or drive 15 minutes to Chandigarh Sector 26. If you are doing back-to-back Mohali meetings for two days, book here without hesitation; if your work is actually in Chandigarh proper, stay in Chandigarh instead — you will lose an hour a day to the Mohali-Chandigarh drive during 09:00-11:00 rush.
JW Marriott Chandigarh — for client-facing meetings
In Sector 35, JW Marriott is where you take a senior client to lunch. The lobby reads senior, the meeting rooms on level M are genuinely well-designed with proper acoustic treatment and 55-inch screens that actually work with your laptop, and Saffron restaurant does a business lunch that will not embarrass you. Rooms are ₹11,000-14,000 and the executive lounge on the 20th floor is one of the best in North India — quiet, well-staffed, with a proper working desk in a corner if you need to take a call between meetings.
Wi-Fi is 60-90 Mbps which is fine but not exceptional. The gym is small; if you lift, the JW's rack is limited to 22.5 kg dumbbells. But this is a hotel to book when you need to project seriousness and pay the client's cheque. For a solo work trip on your own budget, Hyatt in Sector 17 is a smarter choice at ₹2,000-3,000 less per night.
Hyatt Regency Chandigarh — best all-round value
Also in Sector 17-A, Hyatt Chandigarh matches JW on most metrics — good Wi-Fi (70-100 Mbps), competent meeting rooms, a proper gym with 30 kg dumbbells, and a rooftop restaurant that actually works for informal client dinners. Rooms are ₹9,000-12,000 and the executive floor is ₹1,800 more. The location is the real edge: five minutes' walk to Sector 17 plaza, so you can decompress after a 10-hour day without a taxi ride.
The breakfast at Cafe is over-priced at ₹1,600 but the club-floor breakfast at ₹500 net is one of the best deals in Chandigarh business hospitality. If your trip is Chandigarh-focused rather than Mohali-focused, this is the hotel to book. For a five-night stay you save roughly ₹15,000 over JW Marriott without sacrificing anything that actually matters for the work.
Radisson Blu Amritsar and Ramada Amritsar — the industrial-belt options
Amritsar business travel usually means visiting textile mills in Verka or the ICP at Attari. Radisson Blu on GT Road puts you 20 minutes from either, with Wi-Fi at 50-80 Mbps and reliable meeting rooms. Rooms are ₹8,000-11,000. The pool is decent, the gym adequate, and the executive lounge exists but is thin on service. This is the smart choice if your meetings are north or west of the city.
Ramada Amritsar is closer to the walled city, which matters if you have any Golden Temple protocol built into a business trip (senior visitors will want to see the temple; plan a 05:00 visit and be back at the hotel by 08:00). Rooms are ₹7,000-9,500. Wi-Fi is 40-70 Mbps and the meeting rooms are smaller but usable for groups of 6-10. Skip the Taj Swarna for pure business unless the client is paying — it is ₹4,000 more per night for hospitality features you will not use on a two-day work trip.
Ludhiana — Park Plaza and the Ferozepur Road corridor
Ludhiana is where hotel choice matters most because the city sprawls. Park Plaza on Ferozepur Road is central to the industrial belt and 15 minutes from Focal Point. Wi-Fi 40-70 Mbps, rooms ₹6,500-9,000, and the meeting rooms are the most reliably-equipped in the city — I have run hybrid calls with 15 people over Zoom without a dropout. The buffet breakfast is honest.
Nirvana Suites nearby is a step down but ₹2,000 cheaper and closer to the bicycle-manufacturing cluster near Gill Road. For an audit or supplier visit that will spend most of the day at a factory, Nirvana is the pragmatic pick. Avoid the newer boutiques in Sarabha Nagar for business — they market to weddings and their Wi-Fi collapses during events. Confirm at booking that no event is scheduled for your dates.
Jalandhar and the smaller cities
Jalandhar business travel is mostly sports-goods manufacturing (Basti Nau) or hand-tool exports. Radisson Jalandhar on GT Road is the only hotel in the city with reliable Wi-Fi (35-60 Mbps) and functional meeting rooms. Rooms are ₹5,500-7,500. Everything else in Jalandhar is a wedding hotel with a business room labelled. Book Radisson or, if it is full, drive 90 minutes and stay in Chandigarh instead — it is genuinely faster than the productivity loss of a bad Jalandhar hotel.
Patiala, Bathinda, Pathankot and Hoshiarpur have no true business hotel. If work takes you there, treat it as a leisure-standard stay with a laptop. Sarovar Portico Bathinda has usable Wi-Fi and one meeting room. In Patiala, Neemrana Baradari is charming but the Wi-Fi is 12-20 Mbps and no video call will hold. Plan calls from the car en route to Chandigarh, or push meeting timings to accommodate the connectivity reality.
Before you book
What people ask before booking Amritsar.
Radisson Blu Mohali consistently measures 80-120 Mbps down and 40-60 Mbps up on the executive floor. Hyatt Chandigarh runs 70-100. JW Marriott Chandigarh is 60-90. Anything else in Punjab is slower. If you must run large file transfers or 4K video calls, book Radisson Blu Mohali and pay for the executive-floor tier.
Yes — Saffron at JW Marriott Chandigarh, Whistling Duck at Taj Chandigarh, and Thai Chi in Amritsar all work for client dinners at senior levels. For informal client dinners, hotel rooftops are fine. Avoid taking a first-time client to a dhaba unless you know their preferences; some love it, some read it as a slight.
Two to three weeks ahead in normal weeks; four to five weeks during wedding season (October-March) and around major IT Park events. Rack rates at Hyatt, JW and Taj drop 20-30% for direct bookings via the hotel website — always compare direct pricing to OTA before booking and email the sales desk with your dates and GST number.
